The AppJam Terms & Conditions
- You (‘the participant’) shall be aged 18 or over on the first day of the AppJam event taking place in Dundee on 8th – 10th November 201 (“the Event”).
- The participant shall provide his/her own equipment and software for use during the Event. The participant warrants to the Event organiser and hosts, Dundee College (“Event Organiser”) that during the Event he/she shall hold a valid, enforceable and sufficient licence to use any intellectual property, equipment and/or software not belonging to the participant and used by the participant during the Event and that such intellectual property, equipment and/or software does not infringe third party rights. Any intellectual property, equipment and/or software which the participant brings to the venue and/or uses when participating in the Event is at the participant’s own risk.
- The participant agrees not to damage or destroy any equipment or facility provided to the participant by the Event Organiser and/or third party and agrees not to remove any such equipment from the venue.
- The participant undertakes not to create an App during the Event which is illegal or could be considered defamatory, immoral, racist or otherwise offensive.
- The Event Organiser excludes all liability for indirect or consequential loss (including loss of income, reputation, business use, opportunity, data, goodwill or profits) incurred by the participant when taking part in the Event.
- The Event Organiser hereby excludes all warranties whether expressed or implied to the fullest extent permitted by law.
- By submitting an application form and taking part in the Event, the participant agrees to indemnify the Event Organiser for any loss incurred by the Event Organiser due to (i) the participant’s infringement of third party rights including third party intellectual property rights; (ii) any claim by any third party relating to or in connection with any act or omission of the participant and/or; (iii) the participant’s breach of any of these terms.
- The participant shall be required to sign an agreement upon registration for the Event agreeing to abide by the general rules and goodwill of the venue and the Event.
- The Event Organiser may, without liability towards the participant and at its discretion: (a) accept or reject an application to take part in the Event without giving reasons; (b) reject a previously accepted application without giving reasons; and/or (c) cancel the Event without notice.
- The Event Organiser may remove a participant and/or participants from the Event or prevent the participant(s) from participating in the Event if in the Event Organiser’s sole discretion: (a) it considers such action necessary for safety reasons or the proper enjoyment of the Event by other participants; or (b) if it has reason to believe that the participant has breached any of these terms or any other terms which a participant is required to sign up to, to take part in the Event; or (c) for any other reasonable reason.
- All decisions and rulings by the Event Organiser and its representatives are considered final. The participant will comply with all Event rules and all instructions and guidelines given by the Event Organiser. The participant acknowledges and agrees that the Event Organiser will organise and run the Event and will have sole authority and be the final arbiter on all decisions relating to the safety, running and organisation of the Event, the rules of the Event, the placings and prizes.
- The Event Organiser shall handle all personal data collected from application forms or during the course of the Event in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
- The Event Organiser reserves the right to change the Terms and Conditions or contents of the website at any time prior to the Event without prior notice and where it does change the Terms and Conditions and/or the Website, it will highlight these changes on the website so that the participants are fully aware of these changes. It is the responsibility of the participants to check the Website regularly for updates.
